La Vien Rose

I spent the afternoon watching La Vien Rose the biopic of Edith Piaf. What an utterly beautiful film............simply stunning, beautiful film making. And a showstopping performance by Marion Cottilard. Simply unlike any movie I've seen in a very long time.

Enjoyed this a great deal when it came out - saw it with the swankyjournal boys. My sister, who is six years older than me, was quite the francophile growing up, and excelled in languages. We would be subjected to Piaf music on car trips in the 70s, when I was about 10 or so - but, it started to grow on me, even though I didn't understand what was being said.

--So, she's getting this movie, plus "The Lives of Others" as part of her Xmas prezzie haul this year.
