I love birthday parties!

Tonight I attended the birthday open house for Les Wright aka [livejournal.com profile] nashobabear it was packed with Billy Club luminaries, various Ljers, bearded faeries and other characters. Just like I suspected of people that love Les? - it was full of wonderful people. I met a charming classical composer who lives in Menlo Park with his partner, a lovely artist - who combined with his boyfriend brought enough testosterone to the party to make every dizzy, a ambitious new business owner who is opening a new "Body Center" in the Castro (Massage and other services), and that is just the tip of the iceberg! It was also nice to see Chris ([livejournal.com profile] capy) and Joe - whom I have not seen in FAR FAR FAR too long.

I did a fair amount of blabbing and promotion of KDFC 102.1 Classical (this seemed a good audience to do so). I was surprised to hear how many people had "given up" on KDFC but have recently in the last year started listening again. That was very nice to hear. I may have scored a couple of little freelance design projects out of the networking and hobnobbing for the evening. The highlight of my evening - was gifting Les with a painting watercolour by Sue Coleman.

Les and I have known each other over ten years - and started out working together on the first version of Bear History Dot com. I am sure that future collaborations are in store as well. but - Les being the prime bear that I know - I gave him a framed painting called "Spirit Bear" by Sue Coleman. (linky here) I know that the spirit bear belongs with Les in his cozy home of books and art. Upon visiting her site - she calls the painting "Guardian Bear" as it's a mother and her cubs. but I like to think that the glyph and all makes it a spirit bear - so I'm going to stick with my title. (wink)

I'm now home and about to take Miss Kate out for an evening stroll. It's a nice warmish DRY evening here - and I think we'll go for a longer walk than normal.

Evenings like this - after being in the glow of such esoteric, rich-minded men - - is what living in San Francisco is all about.

I see you got the custom header working on your LJ! Very nice! (Naturally, we expect no less of the brilliant graphic designer.)

I must learn more about this "Body Center" the next time I visit SF...

Wow, you've spiffed up your LJ look today since the last time I was on. You've really pulled it all together. I'm so impressed.
