Last night's concert "102.1 KDFC Presents the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet" was incredible. A reserved table decided not to show so I got to sit stage left at a great table. I took along my friend Michael (who did politics with
bear_left at Duke, curiously enough) - - and we had a grand time! The LAGQ is a must-listen for any fan of the guitar. You can listen to their "sampler audio player" by clicking here. It was R for remarkable! They played for two hours - and showed such precision and skill - it was pretty overwhelming. Truly a wonderful evening - and the Bimbos nightclub was such a fun unique venue. about 300 seats - and extremely intimate.
The day started quietly - with a iPod-Treadmill-hourtm at Golds - - then I showered and went off to Peet's to pick up some Kona (it's gone up in price (sad face)). I shared a sugar-free mocha with my friend Kirk at Pete's then dropped my laundry off at Little Hollywood. He and I have been talking about possibly becoming roomies in search of a 2BR apartment with a little more space - and some offstreet parking for ze' Mini. It's just in the preliminary stages. It makes good economic sense - we'd both save about $1000 a month if we shared expenses and such. But we're both admittedly shy about giving up the things you do when you get a roommmate - that "do whatever I want whenever I want" aspect. We'll see if it goes anywhere - but it was a good quality conversation - we both felt that we could welcome the other into our space that way and not kill one another. (a nice key component of being a roomie)
Then I became a whirling dervish of domesticity. As a result of my vacation and working long hours at the office, the house was just UNCLEAN. My first task was to buy a new vacuum. I did the good consumer thing - and looked for the model I wanted.... The Hoover Elite Rewind. It gets great reviews - so I called around and priced it. and (believe it or not) Cliffs Hardware in the Castro had the best price. OMG! They beat Target by $30, and Circuit City by $15. so - I trundled over to Cliffs - - and became the owner of a Hoover Elite!
I had a surprise Missy and Sgt. Chuck sighting - it was always nice to run into the happy couple. They were grabbin' burritos on the run.... I should get them out to dinner sometime. I'm seeing Missy for lunch on Tuesday - (hey you, Missy?! bring your/Chuck's calendar?)
I came home and got to it. Dusting, vacuuming and cleaning stem to stern.
First I washed and waxed the kitchen floor - then scrubbed up the toilet room and the bathtub room. Then I cleaned up the kitchen (still reeling from a fast and furious Bob's Kitchen session) - I also cleaned out the fridge removing some science experiments that I knew were lurking.
I took a short break and had a lovely chat with
throbbin who was in the middle of his own anal-retentive cleaning frenzy. We shared a bonding moment over both being a "cleaner" too! (Hi, I'm Bob - and I'm a cleaner! Hi Bob!)
I ran down in the maelstrom (it's a stormy rainy day here) and picked up my laundry - and came home and got it all stowed. Also as a result of the vacation there was a lot of laundry - probably my biggest pile o' laundry since moving into the apartment. So it was nice to go back 6 hours later and pick it up all oxycleaned and folded. Yay!3
As i finished cleaning up and stowing clothes - I burned some sandalwood and opened the doors to let fresh air in. There is no more content feeling than a clean, orderly home. :) Yay!3
Tonight I'm off to have dinner with my friend Steve at Alamo Square Seafood Grille. FAVE!
Tomorrow morning is coffee and breakfast with my lovely friend Jeffery (

Date: 2008-02-24 09:02 am (UTC)Regarding the whole roommate thing. It can be a good thing.. a careful choice of roommate is what is important. Temperment and maturity need to be pretty carefully matched. A a decent sized "space" is also very important, everyone needs to have their own little getaway space... Stumbling upon this flat in WePo left us speechless. Sadly, the combined furniture combination leaves a huge amount to be desired... ala East Texas Renaissance juxtaposed to Aspiring Mississippi Trailer Trash, with some tasteful splashes of Ikea pressboard. The real throwdown is going to come when the "La-z-Boy" conversation finally takes place... Watch for the U-Tube video.
