[livejournal.com profile] musicbearmn says "So Bob....take a picture of your office and tell me why what's in it is important to you.

see numbers in the photo:

1) Art by Sue Coleman. My love affair with Tlingit/Haida art warms up my office with these two original watercolours by Sue Coleman from Victoria Canada. Her nephew - designed my tattoo artwork. These are her "natural mysteries" with reflections of the eagle and the wolf in natural settings.

2) Piles of useless crap! LOL! When I was on weight watchers last year - a coworker got me "David Burke Flavor Spray" (omg how horrid!) these particular vile vials are "chocolate fudge", "birthday cake" and "cookies and creme" - meant to be sprayed on rice cakes to "transform them into flavorful delights." (um - not.)

3) Plenty of space to say - put my feet up. (giggle) I love this assignment! I often will spread out projects on this workspace and get INTO my work. I do lots of hand sketches before I get really into things - so it's a great space - and it holds my "manplanner" - my magnificently sized franklin planner. so much planning, so little time.

4) "the sign": it says "I can only please one person per day. Today is not your day, and tomorrow doesn't look good either."

5) well - #5 is for an unpictured element of my office. the door. You don't realize what a powerful tool being able to close your door is till you have one. Having been a HP cubicleborgmember for years - I love having a door. I can put on "my" music and work. I listen to GrooveSalad on SOMAFM.com or to KDFC's stream.

6) storage for books and manuals and more "manplanner" materials. I love having a clean desk at the end of the day -a nd that includes putting books away and making sure everything has it's place. Can you say anal retentive? I knew you could!

7) My own colour printer, omg - the must have of every designer's office

8) chatchkes. (sp?) I love little dolls or action figures. This little pink doggy - from the USS PINK - is a favorite - it was the result of a Victorias Secret campaign when I first came on board here at the radio stations. I also have a set of Chevron cars I'll rotate out every once in a while.

9) papers and other supplies - my supply cabinet is the magic place where all my coloured papers, glues and other stuff exist. (Remember visualizing and matching) where all my colour wheels and pantone books are, and my design examples. It's my brain - it holds all of my prior projects in date/time order and I always print extras to take on sales calls. but I love having a pull out supply closet for just about any contingency.

My office is a favorite place and a big hangout spot for other employees. My nametag in the window - says "Bob McDiarmid - Data Janitor and Supreme Ruler of the Webiverse." and that pretty much settles it.

Thanks Dan!

LOL! I'm a analretentive organizer it's true - but sometimes I spend 30 minutes at the end of the day cleaning up and putting away. so my daily creative 'splosions don't get out of hand.
