Today was pretty wonderful. Started the day out getting bagels with David and walking over to Jeff [livejournal.com profile] beg1n's garage sale. Picked up a nice volume of Louis Lamour's Short Stories of the Frontier then we walked back. The wind was up in town today and before the fog burned off it was CHILLY. so we retreated inside for a bit - took Miss Kate for a stroll in the park. then we headed over to the Legion of Honor for the Annie Lebowitz photo exhibition. The place was so mobbed - we couldn't find parking so we whipped our tails 'round and went to the Deyoung Museum in Golden Gate Park. As readers of my journal know by now - it's a regular stop for me. but I was surprised to hear David had never been there. so - it was worth it.

We walked through the sculpture garden and he took this photo while I wasn't looking (right). You truly do have to look out for the quiet ones, they will get you in the most trouble. This was inside this amazing concrete/plaster mound in the ground that manipulates sound so that everyone sounds like they are on a soundstage. Very very cool stuff.
I love singing or simply speaking and closing my eyes and listening to how the sculpture captures and creates something new from the sound of your voice.

It was great fun to hold hands and wander through - and stop and hold him from behind and discuss the artists. He'd never seen a Chihuly (or at least seen a Chihuly and said 'oh - look a Chihuly glass sculpture!')

The three exhibitions (turkish rugs, a strange red vinyl coat multimedia show and 'gilber and george') were simply big collective YAWNFESTS. But David seemed to enjoy the modern wing - particular a lovely piece called "standard______olay" by Yang Mian.

It's a large beautiful painting - with a purposely bright red (i think lipstick looking) smear across it. Apparently (seeing his stuff on Art.com - that is his trademark, perhaps his signature). David wasn't as artgasm'd over the building and has decided that we'll see every other museum in SF - before he decides on a favorite. and we're both intriqued by the opening of the Contemporary Jewish Museum coming this summer. - and neither of us have been to the Museum of the African Diaspora. So - we have plenty of museums to go!

tonight we had dinner at Indian Oven - always dependably fine food - - and having over done that - he's reading a biography of Johannes Brahms and I'm just getting started on This is your Brain on Music - - a quiet night in da house.

Sounds like a great way to spend the day. Have you been to the Japanese Tea Garden next door? It's so worth it. You'll love it. It's a great place to go alone or with someone.

We have every Louis L'Amour ever written:) I grew up reading them and Zane Grey.

An odd coincidence today ... I was at Hobby Lobby getting a photo framed. There was a couple there working with one of the framers. They had three photos to be framed. The photos were done via that colorization technique that you were posting about yesterday. I really, really like that. I hope you were given enough information to try it.

HUGS!

I think David is very interesting, and even more so now that I read what you write about him. I'm glad you two are having a good time together.

Yay for good times, artgasms (love that word, even if you didn't have on), holding hands, and hiding out from chilly SF winds (I couldn't stand how cold it is there)!

And that photo of you is to **swoon** over!

If you get the chance, you have to go back to see the Annie Lebowitz exhibit. There was one here in DC and it was just awesome. The crowds were a bit daunting, but even with my claustrophobia in check, it was worth it.

I LOVE Chihuly's work, just love it. Before leaving Cleveland I was able to take in an installation in Pittsburgh - with many, many pictures. The first time in my entire life that I actually went to Pittsburgh, but it was so worth it.

That picture is so you!!!!
