Would you check out a couple of entries in my journal?
If you are willing to comment in my journal, you may want to read both through before commenting...

Date: 2008-04-26 05:20 am (UTC)wow
I almost always prefer the Director's Cut, especially when it really is the version the Director wanted us to see, and not just a version to sell more copies.
I could not comprehend the original version and LOVED the DC...

SparkleMotion
Date: 2008-04-26 01:47 pm (UTC)yes, it is.
It's one of Joe's favorites, too. I like it but have only seen it the once so the jury's still out for me as to what I make of it (other than a hat... a brooch... a pterodactyl...)

Date: 2008-04-26 07:29 pm (UTC)At a moment in my life where I was actually quite unstable ( visual and aural hallucinations ) it spoke to me and on one level it was a stabilizing film.
On a cinematic level, I adore the long shot that begins with the Tears for Fears song "Head over Heals" that moves through the school and introduces most of the characters, much better than a montage.
I could keep going on, but in recent years I've learnt when to stop. X x

Date: 2008-04-30 10:33 pm (UTC)I too found it deeply disturbing and surprisingly compelling. Even now I'm not quite sure what was, within the context of the movie, the 'real' timeline... There are sadly few movies that leave me deep in thought, or debating the plotline with friends. I think this achieved both.
