Now I know where the qoute "...sometimes I doubt your commitment to sparkle motion...." comes from.

Donny Darko is one fucked up movie. but I watched it to the very end.

I'm sitting here shellshocked. holy crap!

I was pretty crazy about it. I found a wonderful website once, don't know where it is at the moment, that explained a lot of it, trivia, inspirations of the author, what he was wanting, why you MUST see the Director's Cut, and not the regular one, etc. Look for it!

Also, there is something I want to ask of you... Because our paths are similar, but not the same.

Would you check out a couple of entries in my journal?

If you are willing to comment in my journal, you may want to read both through before commenting...

and I talk to you a lot - :) - but have considered what to do - and what not to do in this situation with your ex.

as you know - I had to cut the man that I moved to SF to be with from my heart. so I get some of that. and not other parts.

damnit living authentically can break your heart can't it?

I will send you extra energy.

(I didn't like the directors cut)

Really?????

wow

I almost always prefer the Director's Cut, especially when it really is the version the Director wanted us to see, and not just a version to sell more copies.

I could not comprehend the original version and LOVED the DC...

Yes, it's a powerful movie.

Why are you wearing that stupid human suit?

You really have to watch it a couple of times for it to sink in. First time I saw it I sat in silence stunned for an hour or so.

Yeah, that movie is a bit of a mind-bender, isn't it? The first time I saw it, I spent the next half-hour staring at a blank TV screen wonder, what the hell did I just see and should I watch it again immediately for wait a while?

I'm so glad you saw it! I saw it on your flix list and have meaning to ask you about it. It's one of my top 5 favorite movies, and is one of the few I own.

Let's chat this weekend. I have SAT classes to teach and tutoring to do all day today. Let's talk later today or tomorrow.

Yes...

yes, it is.

It's one of Joe's favorites, too. I like it but have only seen it the once so the jury's still out for me as to what I make of it (other than a hat... a brooch... a pterodactyl...)

That's on my short list of most thought-provoking movies watched in the past decade...

Eventually, I'll watch the DVD version to see the outtakes and commentary...

And of course, there's Jake Gyllenhaal. ;-)

This movie shook me to my foundations.
At a moment in my life where I was actually quite unstable ( visual and aural hallucinations ) it spoke to me and on one level it was a stabilizing film.
On a cinematic level, I adore the long shot that begins with the Tears for Fears song "Head over Heals" that moves through the school and introduces most of the characters, much better than a montage.
I could keep going on, but in recent years I've learnt when to stop. X x

I'll tell you what he said! He asked me to forcibly insert the Life Line exercise card into my anus!

I love Beth Grant.

We watched the movie recently on cable. I don't usually care for director's cuts - I figure they gave their work to me, and now it's up to me to work out what it's all about!

I too found it deeply disturbing and surprisingly compelling. Even now I'm not quite sure what was, within the context of the movie, the 'real' timeline... There are sadly few movies that leave me deep in thought, or debating the plotline with friends. I think this achieved both.
