I went out to get in the car to go get Jeff for the gym - and two folks parked around my car so that I can't move the mini. I'm on a corner space and someone parked their volvo overnight - literally in the red on the corner - literally touching my back bumper. and the person in front of me - DID THE SAME THING - backed up till there is literally inches between me and their back bumper. I tried in vain to try and slowly shimmy my way out - but - I can't get enough space to turn. I've never seen such ridiculous parking in my life. O+m+G... so I called Jeff and told him I wasn't coming. unfrigginbelievable.

I believe you'd be justified in calling parking enforcement or a tow truck.

I'd have the police ticket rhe offenders.

Or I'd shoot them.

but then again, if I'd shoot them, it would be that much longer before I got my car out....

no...shooting is just way too messy. Put bleach in their gas tanks. Once the offenders start driving around their entire engine system will foam at the mouth and they'll need a rebuild or engine swap. Probably the only thing I learned from Mythbusters

Don't be jealous...

Seriously though... I don't have time to waste chasing married/partnered men... there are to many single ones out there.

Yeah, should phone the parking dudes and get them over to at least ticket them. You should also leave a note saying that they should have thought of others before doing that. Thats a really jerky thing to do.
There are times I wish I was a angst-filled teenager with a set of sharp keys and nothing to lose.

Dammit, there are rules in society, that's how we have a society. But when you break them, you deserve the consequences. As a teacher/mentor once put it, they make a good case for retroactive abortion. LOL!

at the very least I would have checked to see if the door was unlocked so I could accidentally release the brake...

not that I've ever done that ***whistles innocently and hopes nobody saw***

brilliant idea! By the time I was back out side with my camera (8am) he was long gone. (sigh) it was certainly frustrating way to start the morning. Jeff missed a workout - I missed a workout - and FEH! (calming soothing thoughts inserted here)

Call the DPT at (415) 553-1200 and at least get them ticketed or towed.

People need to receive the appropriate feedback for their actions (good or bad) or they'll continue to do bad things.

Add the number to speed dial on your cellphone. It's not evil, you're being "a good citizen", and according to the rules of "Murphyism", will act as a preventative charm to keep it from ever being used.

MURPHYISM is a "philosophy" based on Murphy's Law, which states, "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong, at the worst possible moment". If you have the number for DPT on hand, you eliminate the "worst possible moment", and gain a degree of protection from "Murphy".

I remember seeing such parking "arrangements" when I used to live in the City. It would have been easy to park, as that one person did, but I remember driving, on a couple of occasions, for over an hour trying to find a "legal" parking space that also did not infringe on the street cleaner's time. At best, if you needed your car for work, or to pick people up on a scheduled time, it would have been appropriate to have had their car towed. They would be angry, but they they could not refute the fact that you had to get some place and you could not get out, and they parked illegally. Hmmmmmm...... I guess I still have parking issues to deal with! :)

Keying their vehicles?

No, sorry - revenge gets your soul all sticky. Hundreds of dollars worth of damages and you're no further ahead. You still can't move your car, plus you've now made it a logical target for further retaliation and escalation.

Writing a nasty note to place on their windshield?

Unproductive - unproductive, and doesn't even have the temporary boost of revenge. You've vented your spleen, and so?

Calling parking enforcement to have them ticketed?

Appropriate within the bounds of society - it's not vengeful or spiteful and it could accomplish the goals of getting the vehicle(s) moved so you can get on your way, and has a financial impact to help ensure they remember in the future. Still has the potential for further retaliation (ask me sometime!) but at least you'll have evidence of the situation to present to the police if that happens.

Calling a group of friends to pick up their car and move it onto the sidewalk/verge/median?

Results in no physical or financial damage to vehicles or individuals, but if they don't have any friends to help move it off its perch...

Ticketing/towing are about the only two acceptable ways of really dealing with this... and even then, unless one or both of the cars is parked illegally (as in this situation) you might not even get that satisfaction.

An acquaintance of mine made the mistake of keying a car late one night. He got caught and it cost him a small fortune ($20,000 between restitution, attorney and court costs) to resolve the situation.

Apparently malicious vandalism carries a higher penalty than say, slicing a convertible top or smashing a window to steal the radio...

I hope you then called the police to have them tow away the red-zone offender.

Your car seems small enough to lift out and move with this big muscle arms you've built up at the gym.
