the most amazing - frighteningly honest I've seen yet in the presidential race. Don't think for a moment this is supposed to be a comedy - it's a very scary reality about what voting Republican means.

I enjoyed the video and thought it had some good moments. But I think to push it as a serious representation of Republicanism undermines the point it tries to make.

The more Republicans and Democrats paint each other as extremists, the more they alienate the majority of Americans, most of whom are not idiots, not so extreme, and just want some balance back in political rhetoric. I think this is partly why many people don't vote.

Let's face it, most Democrats are not Communists, and most Republicans aren't fascists. Taking issues to their logical absurdity is humorous and may even have rhetorical value in some cases. But often it's just self defeating.

Just my two cents.

but I truly believe that this presidential candidate IS a fascist radical conservative. What surprises and worries me is that this sort of inyourface almost (if not) extreme kind of thing is coming out. and it's viral on Youtube - so its going round. The youtube quickness of information - I mean - this hit a dozen friends of mine simultaneously. I think it's going to be a nasty - mean - gloves off campaign at every level from state and local to the presidential race.

Sadly, I think you're very right about how nasty the campaign is going to be. When I wrote of Republicans and Democrats, I was referring to ordinary Americans, not politicians.

Well, it is funny, only to the extent that there are people who would watch it, nod, and say, fuck yeah!

My paralegal used to have the cutest saying.

Half in jest, whole in earnest.

Hmmm, there are a few people I'd like to send that to!

I have a quick story. Lisa serves on the state SD Ed Assn board. Because she is one of the few Repubs, she's been invited to Mpls in July/Aug (I can't remember) to represent the state at a convention. She gets to stay at a posh hotel, all expenses paid, etc. Anyway, the funny thing is that Lisa is the least political person I know. She's only going because it's a free junket.

The best part? I think I've all but convinced her to vote Democrat in November.

This is HORRIFYING. It's given me fodder for nightmares for weeks. Because....
I have very well-educataed, civic minded, self righteous relatives who make this real in my life. They actually believe that this is the way to go for this country. I've heard some of this come out of their mouths and yes, they're just "ordinary Americans."
