What Voting Republican Means....

the most amazing - frighteningly honest I've seen yet in the presidential race. Don't think for a moment this is supposed to be a comedy - it's a very scary reality about what voting Republican means.

Date: 2008-06-11 12:23 am (UTC)The more Republicans and Democrats paint each other as extremists, the more they alienate the majority of Americans, most of whom are not idiots, not so extreme, and just want some balance back in political rhetoric. I think this is partly why many people don't vote.
Let's face it, most Democrats are not Communists, and most Republicans aren't fascists. Taking issues to their logical absurdity is humorous and may even have rhetorical value in some cases. But often it's just self defeating.

Because she is one of the few Repubs, she's been invited to Mpls in July/Aug (I can't remember) to represent the state at a convention. She gets to stay at a posh hotel, all expenses paid, etc. Anyway, the funny thing is that Lisa is the least political person I know. She's only going because it's a free junket.
The best part? I think I've all but convinced her to vote Democrat in November.

Date: 2008-06-11 11:18 am (UTC)I have very well-educataed, civic minded, self righteous relatives who make this real in my life. They actually believe that this is the way to go for this country. I've heard some of this come out of their mouths and yes, they're just "ordinary Americans."
