Moi, Dr. Goldberg, Mrs. Golden, Jeffery, Mr. Golden, Leo and Paul
Tonight we met at Jeffery's choice of Alice's Restaurant - a lovely chinese restaurant at Sanchez and 29th. The food was OUT of to this world - with a wide variety of things on the menu. Standouts were the curried prawns and the "special duck." We all crowded down to Marshall's Ice Cream for dessert. OMG YUM. all breaking out in a "Price is Right" 'I - got - called' scream when our number was called.
It was a grand time out with great friends - and good food. What a great way to end the weekend.
David heads to Oxford till August 1st for a conference and to commiserate with some cohorts at the Royal University in London. So I'll stay at home all alone (que soap opera theme music here) - rehearse my play - (grabs tissue - starts to moisten in the eyes) pine after my boyfriend - (sobbing into tissue) and go to Dore Alley next weekend. (record scratch, suddenly ending theme music) (...and David accuses me of exaggerating! well I never...)
It's nice to David and I can not be frantic over alone time apart. There are so many things about him I appreciate - and we're doing just fine together.
This weekend I learned a few lovely new facts.
(1) He is quiet - but he listens and records EVERYTHING YOU SAY - and will then blurt out a zinger in front of all your friends; rendering me speechless and everyone laughing at both David's zinger - and the fact that I'm rendered blushing and speechless. This new superpower of his has me very worried.
(2) He absolutely goes ga-ga over sugary breakfast cereal. He actually went to buy Cookie Crisp and Cocoa Krispies. Now - I wasn't much for them before - but particularly since my Weight Watchers year last year - I can't bring myself to eat super sugary cereal. So we compromised on Strawberry Chex. (which were still too sweet) Grocery shopping with him in general is very funny. He has three responses to things. "mmmmmm." with no emotion meaning - "if I were in charge that would not go in the cart." (well, good thing he's not in charge then huh?) second, the "That would be okay" accompanied by the guilt-ridden "i don't really want that" face. (boy did he learn jewish guilt from his mother!) and finally the "ohboy I love that". LOL!
and finally - (3) he likes to watch movies with the directors commentary running. ugh. yuck. eek. oops. We watched "Citizen Kane" over the weekend. My first time. And he wanted to watch it with Roger Ebert blathering on self-importantly OVER the top of entire movie "pointing out all the movie ques and special tricks they used." I employed my own version of the "that would be okay, I guess" skrinkly face to watch it without the commentary. But I know there is a movie in my future with the director's commentary running. LOL!
Overall - we had a spectacular, affectionately romantic and playful weekend together. Sure I'll miss him while he's gone (and when he's "gone" that means no email, phone calls, nuttin' - - ) but I also will be busy with rehearsals and Dore Alley. I'll go if "have" to.
okay. See you there boys.
buh+bye

Enjoy Dore Alley in my behalf... and get as naked as you dare while there, also in my behalf (and John's)!
Smooch!

Date: 2008-07-21 07:22 am (UTC)Be careful with superpower #1. My mother has it and she uses it every time, like when he mentions something I promised when I was 6 - and she uses it against me!
