I do have a question: Shouldn't there be a comma after 'friend' and after 'Mr. Phalus' ? (After all, the name is - sort of - a parenthetical statement or defining who the special friend is).

My lovely friend, Mr. Phalus. dot dot dot...

I don't think that it really counts as a parenthetical expression, because he has so many lovely friends that his audience could get confused. Given the nature of blogging, I think that any entry is more of the kind of the "My friend Tim did such and such, and my lovely friend Mr. Phalus did this that" sort of thing than an intimate conversation between a few people who would all be assumed to already know who "my lovely friend" referred to.

I do think, however, that there should be some kind of parenthetical separation of bukephalus, because that is a direct restatement of the first part. So, either using dashes, or commas, or parentheses.
