So - I followed through on my Dave Only Day. It was wonderful - we had breakfast together then drove out of the fog north to The Marin County Building (photo right) designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. (his final commission) It was actually constructed posthumously - and opened in 1963 with final construction of the exhibit hall and hall of justice opening in 1976.

One of things I love about Dave is how varied and exciting his interests can be. I turned to him last night - and I said - 'so on the Dave Only Day? what should we do?' and without skipping a beat he said - "lets go take pictures of the building in San Rafael that Frank Lloyd Wright designed." Very cool.

Then he turns to me and says "okay - after we get you a cold beverage (i'm dry out in a heartbeat) where close would we take a walk in the woods?"

I knew just the place - and KateyDog, David and I were off to Samuel Taylor Redwoods State Park.

Which was just GORGEOUS :) The afternoon sun was filtering through the trees and we had a wonderful walk with Miss Kate - watching families play frisbee, watching a wedding that was taking place in the park (complete with a new agey trioo of flute, harp and pan flute playing the wedding march; and the crowd blowing "bubbles" into the air.)

David was having fun taking the pictures today - so all the pictures in this post - - he took. (a fact he's very happy about)

Miss Kate also got in on the love - and then snored all the way home in the car. (adorable!)

and then we came home and he said "my favorite meal as a boy was spaghetti" and voila - I whipped up a lovely marinara sauce (from the recipe [livejournal.com profile] kitchenbeard taught me - with the ricotta) and boiled up some fresh fettucine which I tossed in a little olive oil, basil and parmesan - then served the sauce over the top. We had a romantic dinner - and off to the show I went. (another fine outing on stage....)

Now I'm home - I've washed off my makeup - and David and I are going to take Kateydog out then it's powersnugglevelcrosleepovertimetm.

well the whole point of the day was to be the valet for what HE wanted to do together. It was very fun... and he loved learning the camera and the entire day was really spiff.

Wow...what a building!

Here in Minnesota is the last surviving Frank Lloyd Wright gas station up in Cloquet. They just got a grant to do major restoration.

I have looked at that building so many times and wondered what why it exists! I didn't know Wright designed it. For what is it used?

it is the Marin county seat and Superior Court as well as a performance venue.

I love that you do things like that last word. You have the heart of a true Esperantist. But then German does the same thing. I know you were simply being cute. ...Which, with that nice beard your are even more-so than usual.
Cheers
