(friends are forever) preview re-writes
Aug. 17th, 2008 05:22 pmSO - today after our matinee preview this afternoon - the director called us together to tell us about some restructuring and rewrites he's working on with the playwright. He is suggesting tightening and restructuring Act II - complete with some scene deletions and entire scene redesigns - so that it can compete with the pacing and energy of Act I. We'll receive our new Act II on Monday - rehearse it on Tuesday - and perform it in previews Wednesday, take notes and polish it Thursday - and then freeze the show Friday then open on Saturday. So - another very busy of theater work ahead. I'll be nice, however brief - to come home tomorrow night and not have to rush off to anywhere - just hangout, read (my script) and hang with Miss Kate. This show being a brand new work - the director and playwright want to make sure it is the tightest most satisfying audience experience - - and I'm very excited about their changes (we chatted about them afternoon in great detail; both of them asking for actor input on "what would your character do differently here or there.) but it means another HARD week of memorization and moving into towards opening night.
