So - my feet are not happy with my new cardio goals. I've been trying to maintain 30 minutes at 75% of heartrate on the elliptical- and have done so for the last two weeks. (for a 41 year old big old queen - that is a sustained heartrate of 137) (max being 144). I've noticed that although I have some pretty spiffy gym shoes, that my feet simply aren't happy with the new cardio routine. My feets start to complain with about 10 minutes left on the treadmill - then this evening after being home from the gym - the ball of the foot under the big toe on my right foot is really aching. Getting that sustained cardio health is really important to me - and being able to sustain that cardio rate and KEEP it - is (for me) another sign that my overall health has greatly improved since moving to the city two years ago. I just wish my feet were happier about it.

KOIT (96.5 Lite Rock, Less Talk) goes all christmas all the time at 3pm on Friday - but starting this year - I encouraged them to keep the Lite Rock stream running on www.koit.com - so there will be a "lite rock listen live" AND "KOIT Christmas listen live" - so that you can go back to your KOIT favorites if Christmas isn't your thing - - and even better - the KOIT Lite Rock stream will be commercial free but for PSAs and station promos. (we got a client to sign in on the deal!) But I've been MADLY building graphics and programming in such features as a "letters to Santa" page that automatically emails out a custom video... and a google maps based "holiday light displays" that lets users pinpoint their house for holiday light displays. KDFC (102.1 Casual. Comfortable. Clasical.) will also offer a 'Classical Christmas Stream' on their website starting 3pm on Friday - only available at KDFC.com :)

I have totally committed to a polish/revisit of my novel
House of Wolves and have put all other writing projects on the back burner.
It was interesting to break the final bookblock out of my archive files tonight - and place it back on the desktop. Three or four months of good solid work - then I can work with iUniverse to replace the bookblock with a shiny new more consistent copy. No piece of work is perfect - but I know I can do a lot better on a second run at the manuscript. I'm also thinking I may reskin the book with a new cover. I also am considering removing the "authors forward" from the new edition entirely - as it was written in the deepest depths of the "rickisode" and I'm not sure I want it in the long lasting version of the novel.

I have given "Cocoa Krispies" the benefit of the doubt - and tried a bowl or two - they go back on the "David's cereal" side of the cupboard. He loves sugary cereals - and being mr. ubermetabolism, eats bowls and bowls without ever gaining any weight. It's simultaneously adorable and infuriating. I'm okay with that. I'll stick to my Cheerios and Wheaties, thank you very much.
It is cold out for the first time this season in San Francisco - solid wind and foggy wetness. Made for a bundled up dogwalk this evening.
My boyfriend is a total perv - and I like it!

Date: 2008-11-19 05:44 am (UTC)Is the KDFC classic stream going to be on iTunes too? I just discovered that and I like it. And I'm going to love the KOIT Christmas stream, too.
I have to laugh about your breakfast cereal choices. Because you know how you feel about David's cereal? That's how we feel about Cheerios and Wheaties. Oh but wait: you should try Fiber One. It's like eating a guinea pig's cage liner, only without the lovely differences in texture. I would kill for cereal with good taste, like Cheerios or Fruit Loops.
The fog is cool, huh?

Date: 2008-11-19 05:53 am (UTC)The Christmas Stream on KDFC is only available through the player on the website because we're serving it off a platform in my office (to save money overall) and still be able to provide the stream to our listeners.
KOIT is also on iTunes - and since their Christmas stream is their main signal - it will also be available on iTunes. Let the singing along begin (insert daydream of Curtis' reaction here)....
LOLZ on the cereal - Dave is SERIOUS about his breakfast cereal consumption. AND a bagel. I like Frosted MiniWheats but - its totally indulgent. Any dietary benefit is undone by the obscene amount of sugar.
During morning coffee (as long as sunlight lasts in the AM?) the fog weaves in and out - and from my vantage point it's pretty darned cool to watch. I love watching it consume Twin Peaks and come flowing in over the Haight and Filmore. The muffin penthouse has quite the view of it all.

I'll definitely tune in to both KDFC streams. I've been listening online to the main Silverlight stream off and on at work. CBC Radio 2 sounds like an attempt at copying KDFC. I wish "KING" had any of that personality on air.

Oh, yeah. Try different levels of incline and resistance.
On cereal
If you're eating Wheaties, you may want to try Special K Protein Plus, and get some soy grits in with it.

Date: 2008-11-20 05:06 am (UTC)I was wondering how you'd get pain from a no impact exercise such as that on an elliptical trainer, but then I saw that you do the treadmill as well... Maybe lay off high impact stuff for a while, and do extra rowing and/or cycling?
Mind you, what would I know about exercise!!!? LOL
