Potato Leek Soup with carrots and celery garnished with asiago cheese and crumbled bacon

Seriously Yummy Stuff! I followed this basic recipe - with two changes - three times the amount of celery and carrots since they are both vegetables that make David happy and no onion - as well - I thought adding onion to leek soup was sorta redundant. It was smooth and thanks to the extra vegetables, chunky as well. We both give it four soup spoons! I used the "nante carrots" that came with the fresh box in this recipe as well - which is very sweet - and it added a nice light flavor.

Looks and sounds absolutely delicious, Robert. Just the thing to warm you up before a lovely stroll down Christmas Tree Lane with David and Miss Kate.

I'm glad you had a great day!

I'm-a try that this week. We are "roast meat"-ed out and looking for something new. Everything one of us mentions is met by a wrinkled nose on the other, and neither of us can really get behind any of our usual tea menus.

Won't be able to do leeks here, though, as it's summer, so the cup of onion will have to suffice.

Oh, and no asiago cheese or any other cheese as a garnish.

In New Zealand, cheese is $35 a kilogram right now.

Yes, you read that. No, not a typo. $35/kilo.

We don't eat much of that.

why is cheese so incredibly expensive - a cheeseless life? how sad! is it because it has to be imported?

Looks yummy. I was surprised to see Nantes carrots on the list... I don't think I've ever seen them outside Europe. Then again, I found Buddha's Hand at my local supermarket last week, which I've never seen outside Japan, so perhaps the produce growers are all getting a bit more adventurous.

Apple Franciscanware!

My mom has that same pattern. We ate Christmas dinner at the homestead with that set and had to hand-wash everything when we were done, which has become part of the tradition. We vetoed their use for Christmas Day brunch, though.
