Trust me, based on what little I know about you, I've got you figured for at least 5 more trips on the Love RollerCoaster before you finally realize that you reall more in love with the idea/concept of being "In Love" than the actual long term excericise of actually being in love.
Real love may not bear any resemblance to your notions of romance, shared baths by candlelight, romantic dinners and flowers. Real love may have a lot more to do with making sure that the oil in their car is changed on schedule, making sure they have clean underwear for their next business trip, and making sure they remember their Mom and Dad's anniversary, than two guys in rented tuxedos having a commitment ceremony and a honeymoon cruise in the Medierranian.
I think that is a good and realistic appraisal of what it's like to be in a long term loving relationship. When my partner wakes me up from a sound sleep and asks for the pepto-bismol because he ate too much before bed, and I quietly get it for him instead of asking why he didn't get it himself and let me sleep, that's the reality of a loving relationship. LOL!
I've been in two blockbuster longterm relationships. but since - I have not been able to find someone that can even get past basic dating. Joe and I romanced - and then moved all over together and I was his nurse/caregiver as he transitioned - we were together 4 years - then a year later i met Jon - with whom I was with for 11 years. and we found and had real love - until after 11 years he wanted a younger model. Since that breakup (2004) I haven't had very good luck with men. First the insincere sex addict I moved to SF for after a long distance relationship - then two or three guys since I've dated for a few weeks and for any myriad of reasons - they don't get even into serious dating. (sigh)
