the road less traveled...
Feb. 20th, 2008 05:40 pmI canceled my hiking trip to the Appalachian Trail today. Why you ask? Well - it occurred to me that I could find an adventure the first week in May a lot closer to home. There are whole parts of California and Oregon I have yet to explore. and it occurs to me - $500 in airfare, $1700 for the booked tour... I can think of a much smarter way to save/invest/spend $2200 than in five days.
So I did cancel the trip back east.
The new idea is that I will take the same week/weekandahalf off - (May 2-12)- and pack up the Mini and Miss Kate and explore. I have in mind a route up along the Sierras starting in Yosemite then north to Lassen Volcanic National Monument, Burney Falls, Mt. Shasta, Grants Pass, over to see my Mom on the Oregon Coast - then up to Portland to see Lance (
althrman) and party with other LJ luminaries - then back down I-5 to home.

(I know that sounds horribly racist. Honestly the boys dont HAVE to be brown...)
