Final March Question.....
Mar. 28th, 2008 08:30 amThe incredible exhibitionist yet-candy-centered
bukephalus asked:
Answer: one small step at a time, take this morning for example:

Granted - the things he asked about - have happened to me over the last couple of decades. and honestly - most of them - if not all of them - have been incredible learning lessons. From the money jungle that is SF to the Rickisodetm to cancer to HIV. You simple tackle it all one step at a time.
"Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha! AT LAST!
Okay, here's my request. Since you're such a spiffy designer, I want my answer in the form of an inspirational poster...And my question is: How do you do it? I mean, cancer, HIV, shitty boyfriends, an outrageously expensive city, and on and on -- how the fuck do you pull yourself together every day and make it work?
Cuz you do it so damn well."

Date: 2008-03-28 03:38 pm (UTC)So since I was away for 10 days in March and am still SORTA new to LJ, can I still ask a question? Love to know about your chest tattoo.
THANKS!
Re: heh heh heh
Date: 2008-03-28 04:16 pm (UTC)But the long answer (well not too long) is that the tattoo,
is the glyph for the "Sgaana xaaydagaay" the Haida Seawolf, the spiritual ancestor of the killer whale. He is the brother of Thunderbird - the sky and earth diety of the Haida/Tlingit nation. (Northwestern Washington to the lower islands of Alaska) He was the creator of the sea and the protector of it's resources. He adopted a tribe of indians, the "xaaydagaay" and transformed them into the killer whale.
For me personally - it's a totem to the tranformation my life has made in the last four years. It's a very personal statement - and is currently unfinished. :) Much like me!
here is a pic of the full design printed out and "fitted to me" back in September:

Date: 2008-03-28 04:28 pm (UTC)Are you planning on getting your chest tattoo filled in? It's rather a nice one, and I know you found the initial experience to be rather more daunting than you'd bargained for. But all that aside, will you be filling it in, and when?

Date: 2008-03-28 04:33 pm (UTC)1 - tattooing is expensive and I don't have a whole lot of spare cash lying around right now inzebudget
2 - yes i want to get it filled in - but I am also sorta digging that it's not "finished" - the dorsal fin is only 1/4 complete - (see other comment with Jim in NY)
i am suspecting I may get it finished and filled in - in time for my 41st birthday.

Fabulous! Wow, what a difference an hour makes! Yeah, I totally agree with you -- one step at a time is the only way. You've set a good example for us all that way.

Date: 2008-03-29 07:42 pm (UTC)Last year I bought a book on Tribal Art from Native American Tribes of the Pacific Northwest, while on vacation near the snake river. The idea was to find another good tattoo. I think you found what I had been looking for. I just now tried to find the book and I gave up. Great Tattoo!
