i'm glad to have listened through the debate tonight - it makes me even more sure that Obama is the right choice. McCain put on such a fake performance - saying "friends" before every answer like he has anything in common with the average voter. I thought Obama was very sure of himself - and even when I thought he was going to "oops" - (his comments about McCain singing bomb, bomb Iran) - he managed to pull of a mistake-less debate. Anything short of a whole new look at McCain, anything short of a blowout performance by McCain was a gigantic failure. He failed miserably. I thought McCain looked tired - angry, contemptuous at his opponent and simply so last century on almost every single issue. We'll continue to see Obama gain in the polls - as people stop listening to his vice presidential candidate on the stump speeches. The only folks showing up for Sarah Palin - are the republican base - they are not deciding this election.

we started watching the debate, but then started cleaning while it played in the background. I really don't see that there was any real "winner", but McSame was just ugh, so I guess that means Obama won.

McCain needed a star performance and was just UGH... so he loses. A tie is a win for OBama

Good analysis. If I may borrow a line from some of my Jewish friends: "From your mouth to God's ears !!"
One of my African-American colleagues said to me the other day that he barely dares to hope ... I can understand that, as this election may turn me into a nail-biter yet.

Yeah, Vincent kept counting the times he said "friends" and I mentioned couting the times he said "record."

I suggested we do SHOTS for the debate. McCain's words being friends and record, Obama's being middle class and health care.

It wasn't just how things were said, we also took into consideration WHAT was said. For all of the self-congratulations that McCain gave himself, you would have thought that he was personally responsible for every good thing that happened in the US since Warren G Harding.

He made references to Teddy Roosevelt and Herbert Hoover. Who the F in that audience remembers the Rough Riders or the shanties of the Depression? Probably no one. Again, he kept looking back, back, back.

On his performance, it was clear that he had no clue where the cameras were. When he was speaking, his back would frequently turn to the camera (yes, I know he's addressing the audience, but you can do both). When Obama spoke, you often saw him tottering off in the background like a rest home patient in search of a pudding cup.

McCain's health care plan should scare the piss out of every breathing person in the US. Besides taxing your health care benefits, where do you think you're going to find health care insurance for $5,000 annually? As someone who works in the health care industry, I can tell you now, aside from some band-aids and Mercurochrome, you can't.

Buckle down, boys. It's going to be a bumpy decade ahead.

Vote Obama. Dare to hope for something better. Be part of the solution.

I'm OHWolfman, and I approve this message.

I wish I were as confident about the outcome as you are.
