In May of this last year - David and I created the FFFF - the Fine Food Feeding Frenzy Group. The goal was for each member of the group to find an affordable yummy restaurant in San Francisco.

Here is our list from 2008:

1) Alamo Square Seafood Grille (Seafood and Steak)
2) Alice's Restaurant (Chinese)
3) Brick (foofy American food)
4) Old Krakow (Polish)
5) Schnitzelhaus (sausage cooked baziilion ways w/beer)
6) Wayo Sushi (Sushi!)
7) Darbar (Indian)

We had so much fun with this group - and now that all eight of us have the swing of it? it's going to be even more awesome.

All of these restaurants were relatively inexpensive - often offering a delicious trip into ethnic foods. The great thing about the members of FFFF is that they are open-minded about food and ready to take on something new.

Maybe some of you in other cities might start FFFF groups in your cities and post the results in 2009!

What is your measure for "relatively inexpensive"?

well - san francisco is more expensive - but it's probably on par with Boston. if Dave and I come away from the table under $50 for drinks, appetizers and our meal - we consider it affordable. The sushi place was well below that - Brick was higher. but the FFFF group loves food - so we usually spend anywhere from $32 to $50 a pair on dinner when we go out with the group. But we do wine, appetizers, salad and main course usually. so - - - - -

That's really pretty good. I love this idea.

If your group ever wants to do Israeli food, there is an Israeli restaurant on Grant Street (entrance to China Town) called Sabra Grill. If you ever go, let me know I will join you. It's one of the only glatt (meat) kosher places in SF.

Happy New Year!

Oh my!

Living around Newtown, here in Sydney, I'd have a VERY large list - we're incredibly spoilt for a diverse range of ethnic and local foods at reasonable prices, and good quality!

Happy New Year!
